School’s out for summer, and the spring athletic season ended this month at Westford Academy.

Here are quick recaps on how all the teams fared.

Baseball

The Ghosts finished 10-10 on the diamond, rebounding from a tough early start by stringing together a series of wins in early May in non-league action as well as against Dual County League foes like Concord-Carlisle, Wayland and Weston.

One of those wins came against Waltham, who ultimately ended Westford Academy’s season with a 6-1 defeat in the Division 1 North Sectional quarterfinals, stunting the momentum they earned after an 4-3 opening round win against Medford.

Softball

For Westford Academy’s girls of summer, the regular season brought a 12-8 record and a 19th seed in the Division 1 North Sectionals.

However, that’s as far as they advanced, losing in the first round to Bishop Fenwick, 3-2.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Here, Westford Academy had one of the best teams in the state during the regular season, finishing sixth in Eastern Massachusetts in the LaxPower computer ratings.

They tallied 16 wins during the regular season, but fell at the hands of the state’s elite, going 0-2 against Acton-Boxborough and 1-2 against Lincoln-Sudbury.

Their inability to defeat those high ranked Dual County League foes would ultimately be their downfall.

Despite a 27-1 thrashing of Revere in the opening round of the Division 1 North Sectionals and a comfortable 19-7 victory in the quarterfinals against Billerica, the Ghosts couldn’t get past Lincoln-Sudbury, losing 8-7 in the sectional semifinals.

Girls’ Lacrosse

The girls’ lacrosse program was also one of the best in the state, finishing tenth in the Lax Power computer ratings for Massachusetts as a whole .

Their 14-6-2 regular season record was enough for a fifth seed in the Division 1 East Sectionals, where they defeated Lexington 18-3 in the first round.

That win was followed by a 15-8 victory over Acton-Boxboro, but the Ghosts couldn’t get by Concord-Carlisle, falling 12-9 in the sectional semifinals.

Boys’ Volleyball

The boys’ volleyball team finished one game short of postseason qualification with an 8-10 regular season record.

Track and Field

The Grey Ghosts finished in the middle of the pack at the state championships, putting up respectable performance in the pole vault, an event that has been a strength for the squad in recent years.

Girls’ Tennis

The Ghosts were 14-2 in the regular season, dispatching Methuen and Lexington in the Division 1 North Sectional tourney before falling 3 sets to 2 to Andover in the sectional finals.
