Update from the Attorney Generals of New Hampshire and Massachusetts on Market Basket

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley and New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph Foster informed the executive leadership of Market Basket on Thursday that they have been receiving an uptick in complaints from towns like Westford lately regarding questions about labor laws.

Thus, they sent a letter reminding the company of the two states’ laws on terminating employees, which Market Basket has threatened to do on Monday if protesting employees do not return to work.

Update on Rochon Controversy

The Attorney General’s office recently reported that the Town of Westford violated Open Meeting Law regarding an additional $25,000 paid to former Westford Fire Department chief Richard Rochon, discovered through a complaint by Samantha Allen of the Lowell Sun.
