#1. Keele Recommends Using Reserve Funds To Address Westford Academy Power Lines
There was a discussion of a damaged power line near Westford Academy, cafeteria tiles that need replacement, discussion of new administrators and a new fingerprinting policy.
#2. Chairman Wants Public Input On School Committee Priorities
Chairman Tom Clay talked with the board about what they should focus on over the next few months and asked the public for their input as well, going as far as asking people to e-mail him with their opinions.
#3. Elementary School Enrollment Is Lower Than Expected
The School Committee’s volunteer demographics expert has moved on. On an unrelated note, Westford’s public school population appears as though it might significantly change depending on external factors that can’t be predicted.
#4. How Many Goals Should Westford’s Superintendent Be Given?
Superintendent Bill Olsen is required to have yearly goals under state guidelines, but how many? Some School Committee members wanted to limit those goals so they’d be obtainable, but others wanted to make sure important tasks shouldn’t be left out.
#5. Members Of Full-Day Kindergarten Study Committee Announced
In addition to a new teachers’ contract signing, the 12 residents that will look at possible full-day kindergarten in Westford were announced.
