Westford Academy Theater Arts Will Present “In The Heights”

Westford Academy Theater Arts presents “In the Heights”, a musical with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, choreographed and directed by Larry Sousa. Performance dates are November 14-15, 20, 21, 22, 25 at 7:30PM and November 16 & 23 at 2:00PM at the Westford Academy Performing Arts Center, 30 Patten Road, Westford.

 

content_imageThe high-energy musical combines hip-hop with a salsa beat to tell the story of a dynamic ecommunity in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood through dance and generations of music. It is a community filled with ambition, where struggles about tradition are laced through your mind while romance blooms and the audience is left with an experience to talk about for days.

 

“In the Heights” is directed and choreographed by Larry Sousa, with musical direction is by Mr. Scott Cruikshank, and with assistance from junior Samantha Garrett as the Assistant Director and junior Misha Stapp as the Stage Manager. The show production features over 125 Westford Academy students with a cast of 60 including 15 dancers, a crew of 30 and an orchestra of 24 members conducted by Mr. Kenneth Culver. Leading cast members include senior Sam Nudler as Usnavi, senior Katie Sawosik as “Abuela” Claudia, junior Caroline Lawlor as Vanessa, senior Amy Keum as Nina Rosario, senior Brandon Jurewicz as Benny, snior Stephen Koehler as Sonny, senior Katie Kandra as Daniela, junior Claire Shea as Carla, senior Renee Brody as Minerva, senior Thomas Mitsock as Kevin Rosario, senior Jackie Benoit as Camilla Rosario, junior Marco Liguori as Piragua Guy, and junior Anthony Giovino as Graffiti Pete. Feature dancers from senior class include Nicki Shea, Taylor Walker, Emily Perrone, Jackie Joncas, Cailey Boumil, and Casey Nolan.

 

Tickets for adults are $18 and students and seniors are $12.Admission for Sunday Matinees is $12. Tickets are available at the Box Office at Westford Academy on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8:30PM and one hour before each performance. Tickets are also available online at MKTix.com/wata
