Youth Hockey Season Begins In Full With Eight Games

Nashoba Mite AAA

The Nashoba Grizzlies Mite AAA team played a strong Chelmsford team to a 15-4 loss. Gerald Hsin and Akhil Janapareddy each had two goals. Adam Homer made some impressive saves while Ethan Murphy and Aidan Koehr played well defensively. Ryan Nelken and Alden Kuzdal had a number of chances offensively but the Chelmsford goalie kept them off the scoreboard.

Nashoba Youth HockeyNashoba Squirt A

In their second game of the weekend, the Squirt A team fell to Melrose Squirt A, 1-6, for their first loss of the season.  Nathan LoConte had the team’s only goal, assisted by both Aditya Bains and Murphy MacLeod.  Cameron Joos saw a lot of action again in goal, stopping 28 shots.  The boys had an intense weekend of hockey!

Nashoba Squirt AA

Nashoba Grizzlies Squirt AA with big 6-1 victory over Andover.  This past Sunday the squirt AA team faced their most difficult opponent to date, a tough Andover team.  Luke Buretta once again stood tough in net facing five shots, allowing one goal.  Owen Crann, while playing DEFENSE wore the hat scoring 3 times. In the second period Riley Molongoski served up a sweet puck for Crann’s second goal.  Charlie Bonenfant, along with Tyler Santosausso (Swaz) played some great defense keeping the shots on Buretta to only five shots.  Jarod Dantos on tight line with Riley Molongoski and Benjamin Svboda has a sweet goal in the second.  Joshua Laquidara kept up his scoring ways with an unassisted goal in the third.

Nashoba Squirt AAA

Grizzlies Squirt AAA lose tight game 2-1 against the Junior Sharks. Nashoba came ready to play a tough Jr Sharks team.  The boys played a strong 1st period, John Doherty turned away several shots and was well protected by defensive pairs Daniel Son with Jack Funaro and Matty Mulhern with Jack Nelken.  Great passing and digging out pucks in the corner helped to put Nashoba on the board.  Cam Daly scored the first goal with 23 seconds to go in the first period from Nate Mucci and Mulhern with the assists.

Both teams continued to play even through the second period until the Jr Sharks poked the puck out from under Doherty’s glove for a goal.  Forwards Ben Logan and Drew Kapetanakis were both key on feeding the puck from the wings to centers Ben Solari and Mucci.

The third period opened with Nashoba short-handed and Doherty turned away a number of shots on net.  With great plays in front of the net by Ben Logan and Will Gaynor, they were able to clear the zone and kill the penalty.  The Sharks fought back scoring their second goal of the game, taking the lead 2-1.  Nashoba continued to play tough with a power play opportunity and then pulled the goalie for the last minute push but couldn’t get the puck in the net to tie the game. Nashoba lost a hard fought game against a great team 2-1!

Nashoba Squirt AAA’s play again next Sunday at Lawrence Valley Arena at 7:10am.

 

Nashoba Pee Wee AA

The Nashoba Pee Wee AA skated to two big wins over the weekend against Twin City and Andover. Nashoba PW AA has big 6-0 win over the Twin City AA team on Saturday, Sept 26th.  The Grizzlies kept the puck in the opposing teams end for most of the game with nice passing wing to wing and from defense to defense.  Scotty McCabe led the scoring with three goals for the hat trick and an assist. Peter Bonenfant is having a strong start to the season, Peter picked up a nice goal with assists from Kyle Doney and Scotty McCabe.  Matty Haggan had another strong night with two great goals and Nathan Lux assisting.  The Defense was strong Led by Meghan Mulhern, Will Donovan and Gannon Connolly.  Allie Kingsley had a big game with her second shutout of the season in as many games.

Nashoba Grizzlies Pee Wee AA had a strong 5-0 win over the Andover Pee Wee AA3 team on Sunday.   This was a tight game, however most of the play was in the Andover end of the ice.  Great strong passing throughout the entire game by the Grizzlies led to the first goal in the second period at 2:21 in the second period by Scotty McCabe and assisted by Matty Haggan. Staring out in the third period Kailen Richard finished off a nice goal and assisted by Gannon Connolly.  Later in the third period Kyle Doney broke out with a natural hat trick with three goals, Kyle Doney was assisted with some nice passing by Dom Marshall, and Kailen Richards on his first goal, and by Peter Bonenfant and Will Donovan on the second and third goals.  Gannon Connolly, Matty Haggan and Meghan Mulhern were solid on defense.  Christian Guglielmo was super in net, stopping all shots with his first shutout of the season.  The Pee Wee AA team next game on Saturday, October 3, against the Sharks.

Nashoba Pee Wee AAA

The Grizzlies Pee Wee AAA had a huge win over a feisty Burlington team (6-2).  Dante Strong led the scoring with two goals and an assist and Brandon Bailey had a strong game with two goals.  Sam Cioffi and David MacLure each had a goal. Matt Wing had two assists for the game and Michael Castracane also came away with an assist.  Hunter Bichao and Derek Peterson both had strong offensive games.  Christian Guglielmo was strong in net stopping a whopping 18 of 20 shots for the win along with great defensive help from Ryan Alonardo, Jason Brake, Sam Castracane and David MacLure.

Nashoba Bantam AAA

The Nashoba Bantam AAA had cruised to a 5-1 victory over SMS.  Max Strong had a big day with two goals, Ryan O’Regan, Sean Mizzoni and Danny Cornetta each had a goal.  Jeff Brake, Liam Fisher,  Ben Hays and Tim Kelleher all had assists.  The team play a strong defensive game allowing only seven shots on net. Ben Canfield was strong in net allowing only one goal for the win.
