The following information came from the Westford Police Department. Anyone arrested is considered innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.

Sept. 5, 7:58 p.m.  – One resident sought legal advice concerning an unpaid bill. The individual said a customer dropped off a car for repairs, paid $40 and expected $30 after the repairs were done.

The customer picked up the vehicle, but the amount was not paid. The officer said this may be a civil issue since the individual agreed to release the vehicle, but said he would contact the customer.

Shortly after the officer called, the individual called the officer back, saying that the customer had returned and brought the rest of the money.

Sept. 6, 5:00 p.m. – A resident on Long-sought-for-Pond Road called police after hearing a loud banging noise, potentially gunfire, over a ten minute period.

The resident was concerned and indicated she believed that the noise was coming from the home of a neighbor on Dunstable Road.

At this point, the officer met the resident at Dunstable Road who was with his father.

The resident and the father indicated that they were shooting a rifle and showed the area where they were shooting, which was 500 feet away from any other dwelling and had a target placed on the base of a hill.

In the report, the officer indicated that the target was not a safety hazard to any other neighbors. The resident also provided a firearms identification card.

The officer informed the Long-sought-for-Pond Road resident about the investigation and thanked the officer for his efforts.

Sept. 6, 12:27 p.m. – Two individuals were concerned after discovering a terrarium behind the Stony Brook Bridge. Although there were no animals inside the abandoned terrarium, they believed a dangerous animal could have been placed there and harm other residents.

The Conservation Commission and Highway Department were notified and later contacted police of their findings, which were not indicated in the report.

Sept. 6, 10:21 p.m. – An individual reported two intoxicated men attempting to get into a van and drive away from the Sunset Tiki Bar on Powers Road.

As police arrived in the area, the two men left the van and attempted to get into a blue SUV nearby. The individual said that the two men had been asked to leave the bar.

A woman exited the SUV and said that one of the men was her fiancé and she would be driving them both home. She also indicated they were not trying to drive the van, only getting things from out of the van and securing it overnight, which was approved by employees at the bar.

Both of the men reiterated what the woman said and the officer confirmed that they appeared intoxicated.

The van was left on site and secured to be picked up the next day.
