Town Committee Offering Scholarships, Teachers’ Grants

The Town of Westford is looking to give $2,500 to Westford residents that are want to make Westford a better place and need some type of training to accomplish that goal.

This week, the town’s Scholarship and Grant Committee has begun accepting applications for a $2,500 scholarship.

The scholarship will go to the Westford resident that best demonstrates “community involvement, civic contribution and commitment to making Westford a better place to live.”

Character, financial need and scholastic performance are also criteria that will be taken into account, but all applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education or professional training between June 2016 and June 2017.

A grant is also being awarded by the committee for educators at Nashoba Tech or any of the Westford Public Schools presenting programs and projects that the curricula of students in Westford.

Applications for the educators’ grant are due at 6 p.m. on Jan. 30, and applications for the scholarship grant are due at 4 p.m. on March 17.

Funding for the grants comes from voluntary contributions administered by the committee, which is appointed by the Board of Selectmen.
