Westford’s member in the U.S. House of Representatives joined Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian and Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Director Michael Botticelli for a briefing on the country’s ongoing opioid crisis.

Congresswoman Niki Tsongas (D-Lowell) and Koutoujian were joined by the rest of the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation as part of meetings the Massachusetts Sheriffs’ Association were a part of in Washington D.C. on Feb. 9 and 10.

Tsongas recently wrote a letter to the ONDCP urging community partnerships, a proactive approach to opioid treatment and an emphasis on incarceration alternatives.
