Couldn’t make it to the Westford Museum’s Civil War concert?

Don’t worry, here’s one of the instruments found from that era demonstrated during the presentation: the 1871 H.W. Smith reed organ.

Originally from the Prescott home at the intersection of  Pine Road, Town Farm Road, Forge Village Road and Abbot Street, it remained in the home until the 1960s.

It was stored at Westford Academy until 1995.

Here, Stephen Lokith is playing a traditional Irish folk tune on the instrument.

The Civil War demonstration was made possible in collaboration with Indian Hill Music and is supported by the Westford Cultural Council.
