Nashoba Girls U12
The Girls U12 Grizzlies recently traveled up to Dover NH to play in the Bay State Hockey Tournament. After two huge wins against Weymouth and Maine Jr Black Bears teams, the girls faced off against Casco Bay in their final preliminary round game. The Grizzlies needed a win or tie to qualify for the championship game. Casco Bay scored first and things were looking grim for Nashoba when they were called for a penalty. However, the Grizzlies turned the tide when Emma O’Regan scored a short-handed goal off of a pass from Maeve Hughes. The teams battled back and forth until Casco Bay scored what looked to be the game winner with 56 seconds left in the 3rd. With goalie Hazel Hughes pulled for an extra skater, the Grizzlies swarmed the goal and netted the game tying tally with just 3 seconds remaining. Kate Johnson scored with an assist from Aishini Pathak. In the championship game, Nashoba played a team from the Assabet Valley Girls Program and came out on the short end of a 4-0 score. Although Nashoba had some great chances to score from Ava Minchello. Ashley Enis and Kate Jackson, they were unable to beat the Assabet goalie. In the other end of the ice, Hannah Orton and Julia Schuster played great defense all weekend.
Nashoba Mites AAA
The Nashoba Mite AAA team entered the Valley League Quarter Finals Saturday in 6th place, but came out on top beating the 3rd place Micro Ice team 7-5. Micro Ice started the scoring in the first period with 2 goals early. Ryan Nelken found the puck for a breakaway to score his first goal of the game and ending the period down 2-1. In the second period, Ryan Nelken scored the next 2 goals on breakaways. Nelken: 3 breakaways, 3 goals in a row, for his average hat trick per game. Bradana Gillman, Delilah Cioffi and Connor Boylen played strong in the neutral zone. Aidan Koehr, on defense worked the puck up to assist Brandon Perez in front of the net. Perez poked it in the corner for his first full ice goal. Micro Ice was able to grab one more before the end of the period. Nashoba gained the lead 4-3. It was back and forth goals in the 3rd. Ethan Murphy scored first with a wrist shot from inside the blue line, then Micro Ice. Murphy again, followed by Micro, scores 6-5. Micro Ice, down by one, pulled their goalie in the last minute, only to have Murphy score from mid-ice with 24 seconds left in the game, thus earning Murphy a hat trick. Gerald Hsin, Akhil Janapareddy and Ilamaaran Tamizharasan had many shots on goal. Luke Moran, Alden Kuzdzal and Sam Bramanti played strong on defense. Adam Homer played an aggressive game in goal, bouncing on many loose pucks and saving many breakaways. The Mites will face the second place Wizards in the Semi Finals next weekend.
Nashoba Squirt A
The Nashoba Squirt A team beat Haverhill 3-2 late Sunday night. The boys had a slow start in the first period with Haverhill scoring first for a 1-0 lead. In the second period, the Grizzlies found their stride. With strong defense from Murhpy MacLeod and Damian DiNitto, Haverhill rarely made it to the net. Jack Borges, with great positioning, had many shots on goal. With a minute left, Owen Boyer breaks out of the back, passes to Ronan McGowen to end the period tied 1-1. In the final period, Ethan Koehr, after numerous breakaways, found the goalies weakness in the upper corner for his first goal of the game. Haverhill comes back a minute later to tie it up. Seconds later, Nathan LoConte assists Koehr from the defensive zone. Koehr, his second goal, upper corner again, for the win. Kieran Humphreys in goal, made some key saves, including an awesome glove deflection, to help secure the win. Matthew Loyall and Aditya Bains played strong in the neutral zone.

The Nashoba Grizzlies Squirt AA shutout Concord-Carlisle 6-0 on Saturday
Nashoba Bantam AAA
The Grizzlies Bantam AAA shutout Chelmsford 5-0, Max Strong with two goals.
Nashoba Pee Wee AA
The Nashoba Peewee AA team triumphed in a commanding 8-1 win over the SMS Peewee AA Devils. Scoring 1st unassisted for the Grizzlies at 8:42 was Justin Liona. Scotty McCabe assisted Nathan Ely with a wrap-around and final poke across the line at 7:58. Kyle Doney threw in number 3 at 5:26 assisted again by McCabe. Final goal in the 1st period came unassisted at 2:11 from McCabe. Nathan Lux wanted in on the fun with a goal at 5:16 in the 2nd period. McCabe tossed in a rebound less than 60 seconds later off an outside defenseman shot from Meghan Mulhern. Liona batted one more in at 3:17 assisted by Lux. Finishing off the 2nd period at 2:20 with his 3rd goal of the game was Mr. Scotty “I’m on fire today” McCabe. Stopping 17 of 18 shots on net was goalie Allie Kingsley. Also helping out with this solid win were teammate defensemen, Gannon Connolly and Matty Haggan; and on offense were Peter Bonenfant and Dominic Marshall. The Grizzlies are now 27-6-1.
