Age Group/Gender: Westford Cheetahs – Girls U10-T05

Opponent: Dracut-4A GU10-2

Score: Westford 1  Dracut 6

This was a closer game than the score portrays. The Cheetah’s fought hard and had a good result in the first half on an unassisted goal by Kaylee Moore. She weaved past one defender and buried a low shot to the corner. There were several standout performances on a day when goals just weren’t coming; Bailey Dyer and Keira Grenier (our captains) made several very good plays distributing nice passes from defense and the midfield. Sophia Sacco and Bailey (our goalies) made some good saves to keep the game within reach until the very end. Kelana daRosa, Ashley Hander, and Erin Mammola were literally all over the field on offense. On defense, Leela Kapur, Courtney Witsch, and Hazel Belge put in a solid effort, clearing many dangerous balls and taking turns with goal kicks.

To give credit where it is due, Dracut put together a nice game and finished their chances often. The girls played spirited but fair, and we look forward to our future rematch.

Score aside, the girls had fun and learned a lot from some adversity. Coach Leah and I stress that you often learn more in tough games than the easy ones, and at the end of the day, if you play as a team, get some exercise and have some laughs, what more could any of us ask for?
