You are invited to enjoy the Friends Annual Meeting Speaker – Joseph M. Bagley, Boston City Archaeologist and Author- on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. immediately following the Friends Annual Meeting.   This year’s prestigious, featured speaker is Boston’s fourth City Archaeologist. Bagley’s book, “A History of Boston in 50 Artifacts,” offers a unique and accessible introduction to Boston’s history and physical culture while revealing the ways objects can reveal a tantalizing entrée into our past.

Monday Murder Mystery Club: Monday, Oct. 24 at 10:30 a.m. This month we will discuss Cold Dish by Craig Johnson; this title in the first in a series (written by Johnson) that the popular TV show “Longmire” is based on. Copies of Cold Dish are available for check out at the Main Desk. Newcomers are always welcome to drop in and join our lively group conversations.

Halloween “Safety” Story Time with Police Officer Brandon Holmes, Wednesday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. Seana and Police Officer Holmes will dance, sing and read to the delight of their captive audience at this “tips for staying safe at Halloween” Story-fun-time. This free, drop-in program is for children ages 3 and up and their parents or caregivers. Everyone is encouraged to dress up for Halloween!

 Drop-in Halloween Craft: Thursday, October 27 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Create a spooky mummy, a friendly witch and a bobble-head black cat for the more adventurous. Join us for some Halloween fun in this free drop-in program with parent or caregiver. Best for ages 4 and up.

Fun with Stem! Fridays October 28, and December 2 at 3:30 PM. Join our “Fun with STEM!” Club and choose among several activities: build electrical circuits, make tiny robots dance and explore Science or Math with an activity that is varies with every program. This free program is for children in grades 3 to 5. 

 Lego Club: Saturday, October 29 from 2 to 3 p.m. Kids ages 5 and up are invited to make Lego creations at the library using the library Legos. Parents and caregivers need to stay and play too. All creations will stay on display in the Children’s Room through the month. Free. No registration required.

 Autism Adulthood: Strategies and Insights for a Fulfilling Life: Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. How can a parent of an autistic child help them prepare for and transition into adulthood?  Through thirty interviews with autistic adults and their parents, and her own experiences with her autistic twenty-five year old son, author Susan Senator provides hope and insight for struggling families.  Free!  No registration required.  Generously funded by the Friends of the Library.
