Westford Jr. Ghost Unlimited 34, Lowell Unlimited 0
Sean Brown had two touchdowns and threw to Colin Reynolds for a point after touchdown. Nate Damiani, Luke Wauford and Craig Palmer ran for Westford touchdowns, and Wauford, Palmer and Rowan Ruggiero ran for point after touchdowns as well. Nate Arsenault, Ryan Battle and Ben Borselli led the defense for Westford. The Jr. Ghosts host Everett Sunday in the final game of the regular season.
Westford Jr. Ghosts B Team 14, Â Wilmington 0
On a cool windy fall day, the Ghosts B team showed they are a much-improved team after beating the B team from Wilmington. Kyle Murray scored the first touchdown for Westford with a nice five-yard scamper into the end zone. Murray added the extra point with another quick run to the corner of the end zone.
The defense was rock solid for the Jr. Ghosts. James Decelles, Cole Stickel and Elliot Kane were among the Jr. Ghosts with several sacks and tackles. On offense, Mikey Kennedy and Tadgh Murray ran the ball well and set up the Ghost’s second touchdown, a 10-yard run by Michael Witkum. Kyle Murray ran in the extra point to make it 14-0. Alex Cuilla showed outstanding special teams work with his speed during punt coverage.
Next week the Jr. Ghosts host Burlington for a 12:30 game.
Westford Jr. Ghosts D Team, 31, Lowell Red Raiders 12
The Jr. Ghosts D Team stormed past Lowell to raise its record to 7-0 with one game remaining in the regular season.
Westford experimented with a variety of new plays to start the game, then settled into its usual dynamic multi-threat offense. Bobby MacCormack led all scorers with three rushing touchdowns, and also fired a short pass to Kaden Silton that Silton turned into a 55-yard touchdown reception. Thurman Hargrove pounded through two Lowell defenders for the extra point.
Tommy Galvin, James McDermott, Matt Morash kept the offense moving with tough runs in critical situations. Superb blocking from Carter Scanlan, Tanner Whitehouse, Faith Williams, Jack Herrmann, and Tony Babineau helped deliver big gains on the ground and in the air.
Mason Bergeron, Andrew Stodden, Ben Schaffer and TJ Kane were defensive stalwarts, providing key tackles when needed.
Westford hosts Methuen at 9:30 am Sunday for its final regular season game before entering the Division III playoffs.
