What’s at stake in the upcoming election?  Some are asserting that since the town has already settled the asphalt plant issue, the Board of Selectmen will have no further impact on the matter.  That is not the case. Our selectmen are the decision makers who determine how aggressively our town enforces the terms of the settlement should the plant be built. We need selectmen we can trust who will ensure our health and wellbeing.
Dennis Galvin is the voice we need.  We know this because he twice voted to deny the plant’s permits.  He understood it could set a dangerous precedent for future developments.  He also refused to endorse the settlement, and instead advocated for transparency and open government.
Dennis is a man of courage and conviction who has proven time and time again in his 12 years of service on the Westford Planning Board that he will defend our town and take a principled stand even when it proves difficult.
It’s only a matter of time before our town is facing the next controversial proposal.  It is critical that we elect strong leaders to the Board of Selectmen.  Dennis Galvin is the proven leader we can count on. — Alisa Nakashian-Holsberg, Betty Lane
