Five volunteers spent the morning of Aug. 7 pulling the Eurasian Water Chestnut plants at the Stepinski well on Beacon Street. Conservation Resource Planner Carol Gumbart led the charge, but added the next group gathering won’t take place again until spring.

“We will not be doing another pull this season as the plants were dying back and the seeds were falling off them,” she stated, “which will produce more plants for next year.  We will develop a plan for doing multiple pulls next year probably beginning in June when it is my understanding you can pull the plant with the seed more easily.”
