Sunday Hours: Resume on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 thru Sunday, April 29. On Sundays the Library is open from 2 to 5 p.m.

Holiday Closure: The Library will be closed on Monday Jan. 15, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

 Story Time and Book Club Online Registration: Monday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Online registration for these programs starts Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 10 a.m. you are welcome to register by telephone (978-399-2302). Book clubs are open to Westford residents and non-resident Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library. Book clubs are for grades Kindergarten through grade 5 and meet once a month from 4 to 4:45 p.m. The Mini Masters Art Book Club is for children in grades 3, 4, and 5 and meets one Thursday afternoon a month. The Non-Fiction Book Club is for kids in grades 3 and 4 and meets once a month on Monday afternoon.

Bimonthly Knitting Group: Monday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Drop in on the informal knitting group. The group meets the second Monday of the month from 3-5 p.m. and the fourth Monday of the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is a drop-in program that is open to all ages. Residents can bring their latest project and share advice and socialize with other knitters. Residents can call Kristina Leedberg at 978-399-2309 with questions.

J.V. Fletcher Adult Book Discussion Group: Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Readers will discuss “Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee Shetterley. Copies of the current reading selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New Members are welcome. Free. Drop in.

Lego® Club: Saturday, Jan. 13 from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants will create with Library Legos®. All creations will be displayed in the library until the next meeting. Free drop-in for ages 5 and up with parent or caregiver.

 Cookbook Book Club: Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. The Cookbook Book Club is dedicated to exploring cookbooks and sampling new recipes. Copies of this month’s choice, Jamie’s Food Revolution, by Jamie Oliver are available for check out at the Main Desk. If participants would like to bring a dish from the cookbook (not required to participate), they should contact Sarah Regan in the Information Services Department at 978-399-2309. The Cookbook Book Club is funded by the Friends of the Library. No registration required.

 Adult Coloring Party: Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. Participants will explore the latest trend in relaxation; adult coloring books. Specially designed adult coloring pages and colored pencils will be provided. Light refreshments will be served.  Free.  Drop in.

Jordan Marsh: New England’s Largest Store: Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. Jordan Marsh opened its first store in Boston in 1851 selling assorted dry goods. By the 1970’s, it had become a regional New England icon and the largest department store chain in the nation. Author and historian, Anthony Sammarco reveals the fascinating history of Boston’s beloved “Jordan Marsh.” No registration required.

 Ukulele Strum-Along: You Learn to Play by Playing: Saturday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. Focusing on 2 and 3 chord songs, this program is for the beginner ukulele player who wants to practice and play music with others. Singing is encouraged. Ukuleles available to borrow, songs projected onto a screen so no music stands or books necessary. This new program will meet on a monthly basis. Participants can register to borrow a ukulele or bring their own. Open to adults and teens.
