Genealogy Research How-To: Basic Tools

Local genealogists Patti Mason and Dave Welsh will present two separate how-to lectures for people interested in researching their family history. Each lecture is 40 minutes long. The first will be 7-7:40 p.m. and the second 8-8:40 p.m., allowing 20 minutes after each one for Q&A. People may come and go for only the lectures they are interested in.
Dave Welsh will first discuss beginning genealogy and then Patti Mason will talk about research sources available on the internet.

Genealogy Research How-To: Going Deeper

Local genealogists Bob Oliphant will present two separate how-to lectures for people interested in researching their family history. Each lecture is 40 minutes long. The first will be 7-7:40 p.m. and the second 8-8:40 p.m., allowing 20 minutes after each one for Q&A. People may come and go for only the lectures they are interested in.
In this installment, Bob will talk about how using federal census records can provide family information over several generations and are easy to search. In the second half, Bob will talk about researching genealogies from foreign countries. He will specifically discuss French Canadian, Italian, and Swedish research.

Westford Minuteman Open House
Sunday, March 11
2-4 p.m.
The Westford Minutemen/6th Middlesex Regiment will hold their annual open house at the Westford Museum. Visit and learn about the colonial period history, clothing and accoutrements, and group activities. Members of the Minutemen will also be available to talk about this April’s Col. John Robinson Trail march from Westford to Concord. Weather and ground conditions permitting, the Minutemen will also be practicing of the manual of arms on the Common.

Taste of Nashoba tickets available.

Tickets to the Taste of Nashoba event this March are available now.
Celebrating its 17th year, the “Taste of Nashoba” has been an annual event showcasing the best restaurants, caterers, bakeries, and breweries from the region to thousands of attendees. This event is held at the Lawrence Academy Stone Athletic Center.
Attracting over 1,000 attendees each year, the “Taste” is the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce’s largest and most popular event of the year.
As in past years, the Westford Museum receives $5 from each ticket sold through this link. Participants can also purchase tickets at the museum during office hours (Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and Sundays, 2 -4 p.m.). Tickets purchased in advance are $30.
