Today at approximately 6:15 a.m. Westford Police responded to the parking lot at Westford Academy for a report that two pedestrians had been struck by a crossover vehicle.

Both pedestrians, two Westford females in their 60s, were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries; a dog that was with the women was killed.

The school was not open at the time of the crash and no students were involved. The driver, a male in his 60s remained on scene. No charges have been filed at this time.

This is an open and active investigation being conducted by the Westford Police Department, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit. Questions should be directed to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Superintendent Everett V. Olsen issued the following statement on March 28:

“This morning two pedestrians were walking with a pet through the WA parking lot. Both were struck ( one more seriously than the other) by a vehicle driven by one of our employees who was arriving at work. Regrettably, the pet was killed and the women taken to the hospital via ambulance. No students were involved with this incident. Both women who were involved are in our thoughts and prayers. The Westford Police and District Attorney’s office are investigating.”

UPDATE – A press release issued by the Middlesex District Attorney was added to this post on March 28.
