Editor’s Note: Juliette Mount launched a write-in campaign for selectman on April 29, two days before the town election. The development was a challenge to Selectman Mark Kost who was seeking a second term unopposed.

Thank you so much to all of you who supported me and showed up to vote. Westford is such a great town.

Going in, I knew I was the underdog, a long shot…but stretched outside my comfort zone and am very proud of my team and achievement.
The response from virtually everyone I met and spoke with was really great, and the message resonated with virtually everyone.

Westford residents want to be included, represented with respect, honesty and transparency, and for their rights to be upheld by those in office. In just two days as a write-in candidate, we garnered nearly 25 percent of the votes cast due to that message. That is pretty amazing, and I am glad to have been a part of the process.
I hope more people will be encouraged to run for office, get involved, and expect more from our representatives and ourselves. It is a difficult position to be in. In that, I wish Mr. Kost the best in his next term, and I think people will be paying ever more attention to how we move forward in this community, always looking for opportunities to improve.
