In Observance of Memorial Day the library will be closed on Saturday, May 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, May 29 at 10 a.m.

The J. V. Fletcher Library won the “Coveted Roudenbowl” for the float entry in the Kiwanis sponsored 2018 Westford Apple Blossom Parade. Library administrators expressed gratitude to The Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library, Inc., for funding the props, costumes, and the candy (tossed to Westford children on the parade sidelines) that made the “Readers Rock!” float possible.

The Friends of the J. V. Library, Inc. June Book Sale is on the horizon: Friday, June 8, Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10.  A Friends Members Only Sale will be held on Friday evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m.  A Friends membership (which may be purchased at the door) is necessary for attending the Members Only Sale.  The entire public is invited to the all day Saturday sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and to the Sunday half-price extravaganza sale from 2 to 4 p.m. The June Book Sale offers the perfect opportunity to stock up on vacation and summer reading.

“Readers ROCK” is the 2018 Children’s Summer Reading Program theme. Registration begins Monday, May 28 for this Friends’ funded Program. Residents can purchase tickets for events and shows at the same time that they register. Some events require tickets for children, parents, and caregivers while others are free and drop-in. Residents may call, visit the Youth Services Department, or check out the Children’s Summer Reading Program page on the library’s website for more information.

Nancy and Kira from the Youth Services Department will be visiting all of the schools to promote and generate excitement about the Summer Reading Program. Parents are asked to bring their child to the library to register for the program and inspire them to read.

Mystery Book Club: Monday, June 4 (please note date change due to Memorial Day) at 10:30 a.m. The book club meets once a month on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. The current selection is “God in Concord” by Jane Langton. Copies of the current selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New Members are welcome. Registration is not required.

Feasting with your Spiralizer! : Thursday, June 14  at 7 p.m.  Spiralizers have brought new life to vegetables.
