Elder Abuse Prevention Month
Diane Powell, Protective Service Supervisor, from Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, will make a presentation to seniors and their family members on the signs and symptoms of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation. The event takes place on June 19 at 11 a.m. at the Cameron Senior Center. Powell will address resources available and what Elder Protective Services can do to assist seniors who are struggling. The event is sponsored by the Westford Coalition for Non-Violence and Westford’s Commission on Disability. Residents are asked to RSVP to Alison Christopher at 978-399-2325 by June 14. Brown bag lunch will be provided.

Home Sharing
Seniors are invited to the Cameron Senior Center to attend an informative session on home sharing on June 21 at 11 a.m.  Seniors struggling to afford their property taxes, mortgage payments, and household expenses may benefit from taking in a roommate and helper who performs hoousehold tasks in exchange for a room. Residents are asked to RSVP to Alison at 978-399-2325.

Important Legal Documents, two-part series
Fees:
June 19 – Free
July 17 – $300 per person or $350 per couple

This two-part series is designed to provide seniors with the knowledge and the necessary documents detailing their directives for Durable Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxies, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Seniors will fill out forms to allow the attorney to draft these documents to be signed on July 17 for a fee of $300 per individual or $350 per couple.

At the end of Part 2, seniors will leave with validly executed and prepared Advance Directives that reflect who they wish to serve in the roles described on their information sheets. This Advance Directives Legal Clinic is being provided by the law office of Madge & Johnson, PC. located at 3 Lan Dr., Suite 101, Westford. Both meetings for Part 1 and Part 2 will be conducted at the Cameron Senior Center. Residents are asked to register for this clinic at the Cameron, 978-692-5523 by 6/12.
COA Van Trip
Lowell Spinners Game Wednesday, June 20 at 5 p.m.Cost is $30. Food is not included. Residents can call 978-692-5523 to sign up by June 13. Seats are limited.

Country Shindig
Country Shindig, Tuesday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m. A dinner of pulled pork, corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw, lemonade, and strawberry short cake will be served. Karaoke singing will provide the entertainment. Seniors can sign up at 978 692 5523. Cost is $5 per person.

Art Auction and Sale
Saturday, June 30—Sunday, July 1. The Friends offer a collection of over 200 pieces of framed and ‘ready-to-hang’ art for auction and sale at the Parish Center for the Arts. The Friends have been collecting art for more than two years and have assembled a sizeable collection of pre-owned art, including: paintings, photographs and prints of all sorts – a myriad of styles & types – literally, something for everyone. The weekend event opens at noon, Saturday, June 30, with free admission to an afternoon preview, Silent Auction and Sale. Admission for the evening ‘live auction’ event is $10. Sunday afternoon from noon-2 p.m. will be the final opportunity to bid for Silent Auction items and/or purchase art on tables.
