WestfordCAT News Director Joyce Pellino Crane sat down on June 15 with Westford directors of the Friends of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, Emily Teller and Chris Barrett, for an update on the bike path.

The 4.9 mile extension in Acton, known as Phase 2, was unveiled last month in a ribbon cutting ceremony. The extension includes a bridge to help bicyclists safely walk over Route 119 in Acton.

And there’s more to do, say Teller and Barrett in this video, as officials of the Massachusetts Department of Highway plan a second walkover bridge at the Concord rotary.

Ultimately, the rail trail is expected to extend to Framingham.

Barrett, a Recreation Commissioner, also provides an overview of ongoing efforts by the Commission to improve outdoor facilities and create an indoor aquatic center.
