Students in the Theater Club at Nashoba Valley Technical High School won three acting awards and an award for stage managing for their production of “Upon a Sea of Dreams: A Journey on the Titanic,” at the recent Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild High School Theatre Festival.

Rachel Cieslik (2018 graduate, Pepperell), Olivia Spoth (junior, Pepperell) and Katherine Wiitala (2018 graduate, Billerica) earned acting awards for their performances in the play, which was directed by Emily Smith, the club’s adviser and Nashoba Tech’s Theatre Arts instructor.

Also performing in the play were Shea Kenny (sophomore, Chelmsford) and Brian McCall (freshman, Pepperell).

“Upon a Sea of Dreams,” written by Kathleen Donnelly, is a character-based drama with a unique look at an infamous and tragic event. On the night of April 14, 1912, in a tiny, third-class cabin, three sisters and their infant brother are sailing to America for a new life. But the playful air changes when the ship suddenly stops moving and sirens blast.
