State Rep. James Arciero recently attended an event held by the friends and family of Westford resident Kevin O’Donnell to celebrate his one year anniversary of a double lung transplant.

Born with cystic fibrosis, a hereditary disease which causes mucus to obstruct airways and damage vital organs, O’Donnell received the transplant last August at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

As part of this medical process, O’Donnell has become a champion of organ donation registration and works closely with the New England Organ Bank, a regional organization dedicated to raising awareness for organ donation registration.

As part of the celebration at Kimball’s Farm in Westford, Arciero presented O’Donnell with an official citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to mark the medical milestone and congratulate O’Donnell on all his accomplishments.
