The following are the preliminary warrant articles for special Town Meeting on Oct. 15. The meeting opens at 7 p.m at the Abbot School, 23 Depot St. To read a detailed version, click here.
Selectmen, on Sept. 25, re-opened the warrant to add an article that would let voters decide whether to purchase 63 Main St, a single family home that was badly damaged by fire in 2016. Selectmen’s decision to re-open the warrant allowed them to also add an article that would let seniors volunteer their services to the town to reduce their property taxes. WestfordCAT will post the revised warrant when it becomes available.
Article 1: Approve unpaid bills from previous fiscal year(s).
Article 2: Fiscal year 2019 budget transfers.
Article 3: Fiscal year 2019 budget transfers.
Article 4: Fiscal year 2019 capital appropriations.
Article 5: Fiscal year 2019 asphalt plant monitoring appropriation.
Article 6: Acquistion of 63 Main St.
Article 7: Reduce amount raised by taxes in fiscal year 2019.
Article 8: Apply fire station premium to reduce bond payments.
Article 9: Supplement prior borrowing votes to permit the application of sale of premium to pay project costs.
Article 10: Adoption of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 59, Section 5K to establish a senior tax.
Article 11: Authorization for the Board of Selectmen to petition the General Court for special legislation authorizing the town of Westford to establish a means tested senior citizen property tax exemption.
Article 12: Payment in lieu of tax agreement — Westford Solar Holdings LLC and Westford Solar Holdings II LLC, located at 10 Commerce Way.
