Town officials gathered on Sept. 11 at the public safety courtyard to honor the memories of the almost 3,000 who perished in the terrorist attacks of 2001.

Westford residents James Hayden and Susan MacKay died when their separate planes out of Boston’s Logan Airport crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Another passenger plane flew into the Pentagon building in Washington, D.C., and a fourth crashed in a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
