The Library will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in observance of Veteran’s Day.  We will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m.

Friends Annual Meeting Featured Speaker – Author Kate Clifford Larson: Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Residents are invited to vote at the annual meeting at 7 p.m. and stay for the speaker at 7:30 p.m. This year, the Friends welcome Kate Clifford Larson, author of “Rosemary, the Hidden Kennedy Daughter”.  She is also the author of “Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an American Hero,” and “The Assassin’s Accomplice: Mary Surratt and the Plot to Kill Abraham Lincoln.” Larson has been a consultant and interpretive specialist for numerous museum and public history initiatives focusing on the lives and contributions of women in the making of their national identity. No registration is required for this free-of-charge program. Light refreshments will be served.

Diwali Drop-in Crafts: Mon., Nov. 5, 3:30-5 p.m. This program is a combination of a Teen and Tween Make and Take Monday and a drop-in craft for all school age kids in Westford. Participants can drop-in and create a stained-glass Diwali votive and have a henna design painted on their hands. Teens and Tweens can make a clay diya as well.

Adult Nonfiction Book Club: Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. Is truth stranger than fiction? Is it more entertaining? Participants will find out in the new Adult Nonfiction Book Club. The group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. Dates and book titles can be found on the website and at the Information Desk. The Nov. 6 book discussion will be Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly. Copies are available at Main Desk. No registration is required.

Lego® Club: Saturday, Nov. 10 from 2 to 3 p.m.  Participants can meet other Lego® enthusiasts and relax as they build with bricks. The library will supply the Legos® and display space. All creations will be displayed in the library until the next time we meet. Free, drop-in for ages 5 and up with a parent or caregiver.

J.V. Fletcher Adult Book Discussion Group: Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Participants will discuss “The Residence” by Kate Andersen Brower. Copies of the current reading selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New members are always welcome. No registration is required. Please note, this meeting is rescheduled from Nov. 8 due to the Friends Annual Meeting.

Start Planning for Thanksgiving Dinner: The library has a wide selection of cookbooks for recipes. Users can also “browse” and place holds on books via the online catalog or download a cookbook through our Overdrive e-book collection.  Residents can contact the Information Services Desk at 978-399-2304 with questions.

Database Lynda.Com is an online learning site that hosts a constantly growing library of over 5,600 courses that include over 180,000 videos. Courses cover a variety of topics (including business, design, web development and multimedia skills) and software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and open source applications) that can help learners pursue personal and professional goals. These courses are delivered by expert instructors and feature searchable transcripts that make it easy to find quick answers to questions. They also feature Certificates of Completion that can be uploaded to a LinkedIn profile. Westford Job Seekers: One of the most effective ways to find a job is through networking. The Westford Job Seekers Network meets from 2-4:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Library.
