State Rep. James Arciero recently met with several family representatives from NAMI, the National Alliance of Mental Illness. The meeting was arranged to discuss the legislative priorities of NAMI in an effort to help those individuals with mental illness and their family members.

The main legislative goals for this year are mental health parity and emergency psychiatric services, criminal justice reform to reduce unnecessary arrests and incarcerations and humane treatment in the judicial system, improved mental health services for children and young adults, and funding for rental assistance and affordable housing.
