Host Ray Peachey sits down with Upper Merrimack Valley Medical Reserve Corp Coordinator, Nancy Burns, to learn more about the variety of services this largely volunteer driven organization provides. Burns details how the UMVMRC makes a difference in the seven communities it covers by responding to crises and supporting local events and health education programs.

The Upper Merrimack Valley MRC is one of 38 Medical Reserve Corps units in Massachusetts — and one of 885 across America – that is actively recruiting and training volunteers in case of emergencies. “We draw from people in 57 communities,” said Burns. “We have people that are active, coming all the way from Brockton; all the way from Lynn.”
