State Rep. James Arciero recently attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony of Stephen John Holmes of Westford, a member of Littleton Boy Scout Troop 20.  To achieve the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn at least 21 merit badges in a number of different areas ranging from government to recreational activities. It is the highest award given in scouting.

In addition, Eagle Scout candidates must plan and complete an extensive Eagle Scout project which usually consists of coordinating the materials, manpower, and cooperation of many individuals to achieve the objective of the project. Such projects usually benefit community groups or civic organizations and represent service to society as well as a demonstration of the leadership ability of an Eagle Scout candidate.  Holmes’s Eagle Scout project was the building of eight new ballot boxes and storage cart for the Town of Littleton.

As part of the ceremony, Arciero, who is also an Eagle Scout, presented Mr. Holmes with an official a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to mark the auspicious occasion.
