State Rep. James Arciero recently welcomed three Westford Academy juniors to the State House as part of Westford Academy’s annual Job Shadow day.
A job shadow is a structured career exploration activity where a student follows an employee at the workplace to learn more about a particular occupation or industry. The purpose of job shadowing is to help students explore a range of career options.
As part of their day with Arciero, the students participated in a tour of the State House and learned about the legislative process, committee hearings, constituent services and other duties of an elected legislator. The students also had a meeting with Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Robert A. DeLeo, in his office where they discussed several matters, both governmental and non-governmental. Following the State House visit, the students were invited by Arciero to the UMASS Club for lunch and briefly met Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Karyn Politio.    Â
