GoFundMe Account Grows for Injured Robinson School Principal

A devastating accident that left a beloved elementary school principal seriously injured has stunned the Westford school community and prompted many to contribute to a gofundme account in his name.

Kevin LaCoste, principal of the Col. John Robinson School fell from a tree in his yard on July 21 and suffered a severe spinal cord injury that left him with no feeling or movement below his shoulders.

LaCoste was flown by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital and was expected to undergo spine stabilization surgery today, July 25.

Superintendent Everett V. Olsen sent an announcement dated July 24 praising the principal for his “kindness, compassion, love for his students and staff, willingness to help others, and wonderful sense of humor…”

Olsen said that while the “beloved” LaCoste recovers Assistant Principal Scott Middlemiss will be the interim principal, and k-2 student support leader Melissa Boylan will be interim assistant principal for the Robinson and Crisafulli Schools.

LaCoste is the father of Natalie and Colin, and the husband of Ali. The family lives in Westford.

As of July 25, the GoFundMe account had grown to $101,418.
