 Mastermind Adventures: Monday July 15 STAR WARS from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

HUNGER GAMES from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Two action-packed role-playing programs full of games and mystery. Sign up for one or both. Space is limited and registration required for this FREE program. Teens and tweens in grades 5 to 12 can register here, by phone or in person.

Woodstock: A 50th Anniversary Celebration: Tuesday, July 16 at 7 p.m. Join musician Craig Harris for his multimedia and participatory program, Woodstock: A 50th Anniversary Celebration. Enjoy rare recordings, archival video, captivating storytelling, group singing, and guided music-making. FREE! Ages 14 and up. Register here or call Information Services at 978-399-2304.

Playful Engineers Travelling Makerspace, Wednesday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Don’t worry if you missed this great program in February because Jay returns with his amazing hands-on STEM focused workshop where kids can design, build, test, and play with mechanical doodads, ping pong catapults, exploding popsicle stick snakes, and domino pyramids, just to name a few. Tickets ($2) for children and adults are available in person. This program is for kids in grades K to 4. Please note that space is limited – adults are encouraged to participate with their school age children.

J.V. Fletcher Adult Book Club: Thursday, July 18 (note date change) at 7:30 p.m. Please join us to discuss Beautiful Boy by David Sheff. Copies of the current reading selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New members are always welcome. No registration required. Check out our Reading List.

Cookbook Club: Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m. The Cookbook Club explores cookbooks and samples new recipes. Our July choice is Milk Street by Christopher Kimball. Copies are available for check out at the Main Desk.  If you would like to bring a dish from the cookbook (not required to participate), please contact Information Services at 978-399-2309. Mary Poppins, IN PERSON:  Friday, July 19 at 1:30 p.m. Mary Poppins will float into the library to dance, tell a story with interactive play, and sing some familiar songs. Tickets ($2) for children and adults are available in person. This program is for all ages.

Monday Mystery Book Club: Monday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. Wake up your week with a stimulating book discussion! We meet on the fourth Monday morning of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. Our July selection is The Three Beths by Jeff Abbott. Copies of the current selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New members are always welcome. No registration required. Super Cold Science (in the summer) Presented by the Museum of Science:  Monday, July 22 at 1 p.m. Super-Cold Science is a 30-minute presentation about the incredible changes substances go through when they change temperature drastically. Tickets ($2) for children and adults are available in person. This program is for ages 5 and up.

Family concert with Ben Rudnick and Friends: Thursday, July 25 at 11:30 a.m.  New to the JVF, Ben Rudnick and Friends will deliver a show for all family members. Drawing on original songs and traditional material, the band seamlessly integrates classic Americana with their own unique sound. It’s kids, it’s families, it’s music… live music. Pack a picnic lunch and rock with us in the grass in back of the library. FREE for all ages. (If it rains, please eat before you come. The concert will then be held in the Meeting Room.)

 Mario Kart Tournament with One Up Games: Thursday, July 25 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Start your engines kart racing fans, for our Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tournament. Prizes for 1st – 3rd place. Snacks will be served. Space is limited and registration required for this FREE program. Teens and tweens in grades 5 to 12 can register here, by phone or in person.

Pastel Paint Workshop: Dandelions: Thursday, July 25 at 6 p.m. Greg Maichack demonstrates how anyone from beginners to accomplished artists can paint using the techniques of Jean-Francois Millet. Participants will produce their own pastel painting of a selected section of Millet’s painting, “Dandelions.” Ages 14 and up. FREE!  All materials are provided. Limited to 30 people. Database of the week – BookBrowse: Looking for your next great read?  Find it at “BookBrowse” your guide to exceptional books!  Search for book information by theme, read-alikes, book club resources, articles and reviews, and much more!  This exciting new database can be accessed from the library or from home with your Westford Library card number.

Concord Museum: A remarkable revolutionary and literary history experience. Our Friends funded pass admits up to 4 people based on availability. Check out the museum passes page on our website or call the Library for reservation.

Davis’ Farmland and Mega Maze: Come down to the Farm for some nature based play experience. Our Friends funded pass admits up to 4 people based on availability.  Check out the museum passes page on our website or call the Library for reservations.

Displays of the Month – July: Throughout the library you will see themed displays to inspire new reading selections.  This month we will be highlighting stargazing, beach books, space opera, and staycations.  Our displays change monthly so be sure to take a look.
