The term stormwater management has been mentioned a great deal in Westford but most people don’t realize what it means. All of Westford’s town water is collected from the sky. The run-off rain water then percolates through the earth’s soil to an aquifer below.

But where does it go from there? Keeping the quality of Westford’s drinking water within state and federal regulations requires maintenance of the town’s stormwater infrastructure.

In this video, Town Engineer Paul Starratt along with Highway Superintendent Chip Barrett conduct a hands-on tour of the town’s stormwater infrastructure and equipment to demonstrate what Westford is doing to stay in compliance with these regulations.

Town Treasurer and Tax Collector Christine Collins completes the tour by addressing the financial impact.
