Labor Day Hours: In observance of Labor Day the Library will be closed on Sat., August 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Mon., Sept. 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Library will re-open on Tues., Sept. 3 at 10 a.m.

 Monday Mystery Book Club: Monday, Aug. 26 at 10:30 a.m. The club meets on the fourth Monday morning of the month @ 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. The August selection is White Heat by M.J. McGrath.  Copies of the current selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New members are always welcome. FREE. Drop in. Here is the Reading List.

Knitting Group: Monday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. The informal knitting group meets in the Mary Atwood Room on the second Monday of every month from 3 to 5 p.m. AND the fourth Monday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This is a drop-in program that is open to all ages. Adult Nonfiction Book Club: Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. The book club meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Mary Atwood Room. Dates and book titles can be found on the website and at the Information Desk. The Sept. 3 book discussion will be The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman. Copies are available at Main Desk. Bay Circuit Trail: Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. This 200 mile Bay Circuit trail through natural open spaces extends all the way from Newburyport north of Boston to Duxbury south of Boston, and passes through Westford. Dan and Marilyn Brielmann will present music and pictures while describing the many sights along the trail, as well as its history, accomplishments and current conditions. Ages 14 and up. The wildly popular Story Time and Book Club online registration for children opens Monday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

KonMari Tidying Workshop: Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Need to declutter? Attendees will learn the basic principles of the KonMari Method. Certified KonMari consultant Cristin Condon will discuss the method’s myths and misconceptions, how to set oneself up for success before beginning, how to maintain success, and the effects of KonMari on life. Attendees can bring a tough-to-fold item for a folding demonstration Ages 14 and up. FREE! Participants can register here or call Information Services at 978-399-2304.

Adult Book Club: Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Join us to discuss Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Copies of the current reading selection are available for check-out at the Main Desk. New members are always welcome! No registration required. Check out our Reading List for 2019.

Database of the Week: Gale in Context Biography  Search biographical information for literary figures, science, multicultural studies, business, entertainment, politics, sports, government, history, current events, and the arts. This database is funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Check out our Databases page to learn more.

Trustees Go Pass (Fruitlands and Trustees of Reservation sites): One can deepen her connection to the land, the outdoors, and history at 116 statewide properties. The Friends funded pass admits up to one person based on availability. Check out our website or call the Library for reservations. USS Constitution Museum: Furl a sail, fire a cannon, and scrub the decks to learn what life was like at sea over 200 years ago. The Friends funded pass admits up to 9 people based on availability.
