The annual ARToberfest fall celebration at 122  and 160 Western Avenue in Lowell includes a gallery showing, poetry slam, and different kinds of art on Oct. 5th and 6th from 12 to 5 p.m. Western Avenue artists are opening their studios to the public to display locally made artwork, handmade crafts, photography, jewelry, clothing, and works in clay, wood, glass, and metal. Saturday features the Loading Dock Gallery’s show reception from 4-6 p.m. This is the New England Juried Poetry Convergence called “Repetition, Replication, Variation” and will feature a poetry slam on the A Mill Loading Dock. Beginning Friday, Oct. 4 from 9-10 a.m., the Cameron Senior Center will host a program called Music Makers where there will be rehearsals every Friday morning for those who would like to perform. The rehearsals  prepare the musicians for holiday performances. For more information, call 978-399-5523.

The March of Dimes signature chefs auction is designed to bring the community, sponsors, and young professionals together. The event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at the UTEC in Lowell. It will feature live music by Martin and Kelly, local culinary talent, and an auction that will raise funds to improve the health of mothers and their babies.
