Parent Lee Moore took advantage of the public forum period of the School Committee to express her disappointment that graduating seniors will not have a choice to wear white gowns. The entire class will wear maroon in compliance with a recommendation by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to provide a safe and supportive school environment for all.
“I guess what I’m asking is I was under the impression the students would have a say,” she said.
Moore has two graduating seniors so when she saw the price of a gown jumped from last year’s $18 to this year’s $35, she asked why.
Westford Academy Principal James Antonelli explained what happened. Watch it here.
