December Artist of the Month Laurie G. Miller has filled the PCA gallery with an exhibition of floral oil paintings titled “Flower Power.”

According to Miller’s Flower Power Artist Statement on her website, she has painted a wide variety of subjects throughout her career but rarely flowers. “Prior to and while recovering from surgery early in 2019, I received many flowers to buoy my spirits,” she stated. “For the first time, I felt compelled to capture them in paint. The more I painted, the more engaged I became with their delicate forms and vibrant colors. These flowers represent the village that surrounded me with love and care when my future was so uncertain and while I struggled in my recovery.”

Miller is also known for painting sweet treats such as doughnuts and cupcakes so the exhibit also includes a smaller series of “Flour Power” paintings.

The exhibit runs through Dec. 29, with gallery hours by appointment and on Sundays in December from noon to 2 p.m.
