Jeff Stephens, Westford Health Director, talks with WestfordCAT’s Patty Stocker, to give his weekly, local update on the COVID-19 pandemic, including the number of recorded cases in the town and in Middlesex County.
He touches on the CDC’s latest recommendations regarding face coverings, why some restaurants in town have shuttered their doors altogether, and what, if any, added restrictions Westford has for its residents when it comes to social distancing.
“The town of Westford can fine based on Governor Baker’s orders,” said Stephens. “We certainly don’t want to be able to do that. Every town and every city has a different situation….I really don’t want to get to a point where we’re fining our residents for congregating. We’re hoping that people just understand this is temporary, it’s just short term, and we can get through this.”
Stephens invites anyone in the community who has questions or concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic to contact the Westford Health Department at 978-692-5509 or email him at jstephens@westfordma.gov.
