Virtual Story Times, Harry Potter, and Arts and Crafts!: The Youth Services Department has created a private Facebook page where we will post story time videos, a special Harry Potter read aloud, and ideas for arts and crafts (check out the ā€œHow to Make a Fairy House Videoā€). The librarians made this page private to honor the copyrights of the authors and publishers of the works we use. All videos will be removed after the time periods allotted by the copyright owners.

Patrons should feel free to tell friends about library services. On Facebook ā€“ search for J. V. Fletcher Library Youth Services Department – and send us a request to become a member. The Youth Service staff members said they miss Patrons and Their children VERY MUCH!

New! Staff Recommends ā€“ The list includes titles that are available to download on Overdrive and Hoopla. The librearians also provide personalized title recommendation.

Learn a New Language with Rosetta Stone: Rosetta Stoneā€™s proven immersion method integrates listening, reading, and speaking. There are 30 different languages to choose from. Patrons will be asked to enter a Library ID from a library card. They will then be prompted to provide their-mail and to create a password so that the lessons will be saved. New- advanced learning levels for each of the languages are now available to Westford patrons.

Hoopla!: Hoopla has no waiting lists. Every item in their collections are available for immediate download. Choose from movies, TV series, e-books, audiobooks, music, and comics. There are collections for all age groups, including ā€œread alongsā€ for kids and home schooling resources. Those in need of home exercise are asked to check out the health and fitness videos available for download. Typically, patrons may check out up to 10 items per month. Due to these challenging times, Hoopla has added over 1,000 titles to ā€œBonus Borrows. ā€œBonus Borrowsā€ do not count towards your 10 items per month. Patrons are asked to go to Categories to find listings of ā€œBonus Borrowsā€ as well as numerous linked lists in all kinds of subject areas. There is a ā€œCategoriesā€ link from each format collection.

COVID-19 Digital Archive: The Library is collecting a digital archive of community membersā€™ experiences of the COVID-19 Pandemic in real time. There are multiple ways patrons can participate and submit their experiences to this archive: record and submit a daily digital journal, or submit photos, or both. A staff member will review submissions and get back to you. Patrons should understand that all submitted journals and photos will be assumed submissions to the archive. To learn more, go to https://westfordlibrary.org/research/covid-19-digital-archive/

Patrons are encouraged to explore the library’s large number of databases and digital collections that include e-books, audiobooks, movies magazines, television series, the Great Courses, comics, and music. These collections provide content for all audiences and age groups. Anyone needing a library card number or a new card, is encouraged to send an email at westfordlibrary@westfordma.gov.
