This spring as the date of the town-wide election drew closer, Elizabeth Almeida took herself out of the running for the June 30 election.

The selectboard member announced she would not run again, citing a desire to spend more time with her children.

“I realized I gave up too many bike rides and ice cream cones last summer with them,” she said.

The former town official tells viewers about her education, talks about her business growing mushrooms and supplying them to restaurants, and she reveals what she believes was her greatest contribution to the town.

Almeida spent three years on the selectboard, using her skills to teach taxpayers how town oficials create a municipal budget. She chaired the board from July 2019 to June 2020 and won praise for her willingness to hear all sides and for her kindness.

“That was always a challenge for me to figure out how to chair and facilitate the meetings in a way that the community felt included in the process,” said Almeida.
