Political activist and Westford resident Barry Rosenberg is pushing legislators to vote in favor of the We the People Act before Congress recesses on July 31.

“The bill establishes that Constitutional rights are for real people only and mandates that federal and state governments limit political spending,” he stated. “If the U.S. congress does not take action in six months, we become the sixth state to petition for a Constitutional Amendment to accomplish what the bill calls for.”

Rosenberg engaged in a Zoom interview on July 16 with WestfordCAT News Director Joyce Pellino Crane.

“Corporations are able to contribute a great deal of money to political campaigns where human beings like you and I (sic) might be able to contribute a handful of dollars,” Rosenberg said.

If passed into law, the bill would also limit political contributions to influence elections.

Rosenberg asked voters to voice their wishes for the pending bill at https://twitter.com/wethepeoplemass?lang=en.
