With Ranked Choice Voting — Question 2 — on the Nov. 3 ballot, the League of Women Voters of Westford’s virtual Civic Social on Sept.16 featured Jim Henderson of Voter Choice for Massachusetts, the coalition that is leading the campaign for Question 2.
League member Steve Edwards presented the results of the League’s own demonstration of how ranked choice voting works.
Civic Social attendees voted online for their favorite Kimball ice cream flavors, ranking their choices from 10 flavors nominated by League members.
Just as in the upcoming election, voters could cast their ballots early, ranking their choices online starting the weekend before the Civic Social. Over 130 votes were cast and mint chocolate chip emerged the winner, but it took eight rounds to get there. The details of the voting process can be seen on the League’s Facebook page: facebook.com/LWVWestford
Civic Socials are the League’s informal monthly (now virtual) get-togethers to give people–League members or not–the opportunity to learn more about what the League is doing and what’s going on in and around town. The next Civic Social is scheduled for Wed. Oct. 21.
