Local artist Laurie G. Miller helped start Art on Main just past the Town Common five years ago, but come August 1, she will have a new home for her work.
Miller will be joining Gallery 529, a new gallery located at the former building of Tre Amici in Littleton on Route 110, just past the Westford border.
While she says Art on Main helped her grow as an artist, it was time to expand her horizons.
“You know, it felt like the timing was right for me, I’ve been here for five years and it was looking for something new and different, looking to partner with new people,” says Miller. “Art on Main has been fantastic, but it was time for a new challenge.”
However, the proximity of this new gallery helps provide a taste of home in her eyes, helping to expose her work to new clients in Littleton, with the potential of keeping old friends in town from here in town.
Although Gallery 529 is currently undergoing planning board review with the Town of Littleton according to Miller, the expectation is that they will open at the beginning of September, with a soft opening in July.
Much like Art on Main, this new gallery is also expected to hold guest artist programs and allow local artists to sell their work collaboratively.
However, their building will also hold a new restaurant called “Act 3”, a rebirth of the former Acton Jazz Café.
“It’s fun thinking about what it can be,” she says. “I’m looking forward to shaping the future of that gallery.”
