From Nabnasset to Forge Village, here are your Five Things for Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 in Westford

#1. Interested in Open Space and Recreation Issues?… the town is beginning the process of updating the town’s Open Space & Recreation Plan, which expires in January 2015.

An online survey is coming and input from residents is needed.

#2. Coming to CNS Mustard Seed This Weekend…it’s the 2014 Pumpkinfest. There will be a carving contest, entertainment, vendors, and a pumpkin parade along with a lighting ceremony and awards.

The event takes place from 12 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25

#3. Nashoba Valley Technical High School’s Annual Open House is… Sunday, Nov. 2, from noon to 3 p.m.

The event is open to all seventh- and eighth-graders in the school’s district and their parents, as well as all community members. It will feature guided tours and an opportunity to meet with academic teachers and technical instructors.

Students and parents can tour Nashoba Tech’s 18 technical programs.

#4. Saturday, Oct. 25 is Purple Pinky Day…. an international effort by the Rotary to help eradicate polio.

 

Here in Westford, members of the Westford Rotary Club will be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon at the Westford Toy Shop in Westford Valley Marketplace and the Cornerstone Square Market Basket.

#5. Luis Tiant, Jr., a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame… will make a special appearance at a fundraiser at St. Catherine’s Parish Hall, 107 North Main St., Westford, on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 7:00 p.m.   The suggested donation for admission is $5 per individual, $10 per family.
