Do you remember Tara Hall? Perhaps if I mentioned the 60 foot plastic Santa at the entrance to Westford by way of Carlisle that may ring a bell. It seems like it was only yesterday that Chris Pude from the Westford Housing Authority went to the CPC to request funding towards the conversion of this odd structure into affordable housing for our Veterans. It seems like only yesterday that the Westford Planning board reviewed the possibility of this project. Fast forward to the present, and in only two weeks new residents will be moving into these beautiful new homes.
On Wednesday, the Chelmsford Housing Authority held an open house at the new housing with speakers reminiscing about the long road to this final destination, including our own Jodi Ross and Senator Eileen Donoghue. Tours were held in the five apartments. The apartments are spacious and welcoming, with large windows in the living rooms and bedrooms, nice quality appliances in the kitchens, and a common room for residents to gather. There is also an onsite office that will be staffed to support the residents and the building.
The feeling I took away from the event was a feeling of great happiness that our Veterans who have given so much for us will have these beautiful homes in the great town of Westford. Thank you to the many many people who contributed to making dreams come true for a few of our Veterans.
