Join the League and town officials for an informal gathering to review the topics that will be presented at this year’s Annual Town Meeting. We will be meeting on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 pm in the Mary Atwood Room of the JV Fletcher Library. You should attend this preview of the motions on the Annual Town Meeting warrant if you:
* Want to know what we will be voting on at Annual Town Meeting.
* Have questions about specific motions on the warrant.
* Have never attended a town meeting before and are curious about what is discussed.
* Are interested in how the town allocates its funds and resources for the year.
lwvThere are currently over 30 articles on the warrant, and we will cover them all during the preview.  Many topics focus on building projects in town, including funding for the new Town Center fire station on Boston Road, funding for the design and construction of a combined police and fire dispatch facility in the current Police Department training room, and leasing the former Town landfill site for a solar project.  The status of the former Graniteville fire sub-station will also be discussed.
Questions throughout the evening are welcomed! Join us for some lively conversation and learn something new about your town. Even if you are not able to attend Annual Town Meeting, you will become better informed on the changes and issues in your community.  But, we hope you are able to attend Westford’s Annual Town Meeting, held on Saturday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abbot School gymnasium.
If you are considering running for local office in Westford, now is the time to get your nomination papers from Town Hall and start collecting signatures!  50 signatures from registered Westford voters are required, and must be submitted to the registrars of voters for certification by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15.  Town Elections will be held onTuesday, May 5.
