I write to express my support for Mark Kost and his candidacy for Board of Selectmen.  I have been working with Mark in various leadership roles within the Finance Committee and can attest to his passion for making Westford the best town it can be.  Mark’s tireless  involvement since June 2008, with both the Finance and the Capital Commitees, has helped the Town’s leadership deliberate the fiscal issues facing the Town.  I want to share with you a few of the things that make Mark an excellent choice for the Board of Selectmen.
Mark joined the Finance Committee in June of 2008 and immediately demonstrated his skills and experience, adding to the Committee’s acumen regarding finance and fiscal policy.  For most members of the Committee, all of whom are volunteers, the time committment from the Finance Committee’s activities is significant.  However, for Mark, he found additional capacity in his schedule to help establish and Chair the Capital Committee allowing the Town a more focused conversation regarding our capital needs.
Mark’s courage to express his thoughts and perspectives expanded our dialog beyond the Finance Committee’s deliberations to the budget sessions with the Town Leadership.  His ability to articulate and assess varying positions on an issue has helped the Finance Committee ensure we are fully weighing the various perspectives of Westford’s citizens.
While, Mark’s success in this election will require him to leave the Finance and Capital Committees, I know his fiscal awareness will help strengthen the Board of Selectmen.  I can say his involvement will be missed, but I know he will be in a better position to continue doing great things for the Town of Westford.
Please join me in supporting Mark on Tuesday May 5th.
