The Westford Farmers’ Market will celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week on Aug. 4 with unique educational activities as well as an appearance by State Representative James Arciero.

National Farmers’ Market week is occurring throughout the country from Aug. 2 to 8, celebrating the 60 percent jump in total farmers’ markets overall across the U.S. according to the United States Department of Agriculture.

“Farmers’ markets play a vital role in forming healthy, local food systems,” says Jen Cheek, Executive Director of the Farmers Market Coalition. “By providing the opportunity for farmers to connect directly with consumers, markets serve as education centers. Vendors are teaching customers about agriculture, sharing recipes, and exposing them to new foods. Markets are making people and communities stronger and healthier.“

Here is a list of expected vendors at the Aug. 4 Westford Farmers’ Market, as provided by Sustainable Westford. More information is available at sustainablewestford.org
