Westford’s bi-annual Food Truck Festival, now known as the Fashion Truck’s Savor in Style Festival, is quickly becoming a beloved Westford tradition, as Saturday marked the event’s fourth incarnation.
However, it could be said that the festival doesn’t actually happen twice a year, but there are two different kinds of festivals each year at the Abbot School.
Approximately 1,700 people attended an event seen as more relaxed and easygoing than this year’s spring edition of the fair, which drew over 3,000 people.
It’s unclear if the cooler temperatures played a role in the attendance drop, but the smaller numbers were actually beneficial for Aunties Sweet Shop owner Kat Rokita, who was on hand serving cotton candy.
“I got a chance to catch my breath today,” she said. “It was nice to look around and enjoy food from some of the other vendors. In the past, the customers would just be non-stop.”
Last year’s fall festival has only 1,500 people attend according to festival organizer Emily Benson, who noted that the event’s success depends on how it’s viewed.
“I think that everyone who came had a good time,” she said. “We’re still learning and weren’t sure if the attendance would be impacted more by the seasons or by the growth we saw in the spring.”
This fall’s fair held 17 food trucks, and 20 other booths.
